In Denmark – “Kultūrpolis“ art project “Millenium”

Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre “Kultūrpolis” began series of its presentations abroad. On October 24, project “Milenium” was presented in gallery “Kunstpakhuset” at Ikast town (Denmark).

Art project “Millenium” symbolically mentions the millennium of Lithuania and introduces to the Danish public the creative work of seven artists: Inga Likšaitė, Laura Keblytė, Aurelija Draugelė, Agnė Jonkutė, Irma Leščinskaitė, Žygimantas Augustinas and Tadas Vosylius. Project curators Ignas Kazakevičius and Bronė Neverdauskienė suggested to the artists to continue the idea of the “Law of conservation of art”, by highlighting in an intriguing way the components of the “visual arts culture”: its shape, colour, texture and facture, substance and duration, semantics, its codes and canons. In their art, virtuosity of technique and intrigue of the content are equally important. Much attention is given to the remake of creation’s form or idea; it is repeated in different media, or just replicate motifs of light, colour abstraction or fleshly physiology. Optical effects, social consciousness reflections, typical for today’s art concepts and even pastiche of Renaissance ideals and baroque splendour interconnect in these works. In this show, modern textile and painting, kinetic art works, objects and video projections are on display. “Millenium” – it is thousands of variations, from elementary surface plastic art to visualization of the creative process.
